Canon on Thursday released the Selphy CP800, the latest in the company’s line of compact photo printers.
The $100 Selphy CP800 is a dye sublimation printer that specializes in 4-by-6 photo output, though you can print on cards as small as 2.13 by 3.39 inches. According to Canon, the Selphy CP800 can print a borderless postcard-sized photo in 47 seconds.
The printer connects to a Mac via USB. However, the printer is designed for use without a computer. It supports all memory cards, can print from a USB flash drive, has PictBridge support, and also has an option for Bluetooth ($50) so you can print from mobile devices.
Measuring 4.7-by-2.3-by-6.7 inches, the Selphy CP800 weighs 2 pounds. It has support for a battery pack, which is an extra $80.
As for consumables, Canon sells the KP-108IN dye sublimation ink and 4-by-6 paper package for $35. The package includes printer ink and paper for 108 prints.
The Selphy CP800 is available in black or white.
